BIG LAKE, BITTEROOT-SELWAY WILDERNESS, MONTANA: The Bitteroot-Selway Wilderness at 1.3 million acres spanning into both Idaho and Montana is what many consider the largest contiguous wilderness in the lower 48. It is divided by only one infamous gravel road known as the Magruder Corridor.

SPRING IN THE PALOUSE, IDAHO: A 4,000 square mile region of rolling losses, asymmetrical prehistoric wind-blown silt dunes. It is now a productive agricultural region requiring no additional irrigation and devoid of fencing. Property lines are delineated by specific landmarks such as this blooming tree.

MANGROVE FOREST, PANAMA: A troop of monkeys swung through this flooded forest scampering down for curious look at our kayaks.

LOG YARD, WEAVERVILLE, CALIFORNIA: Sprinklers battle against the summer heat. The boom bust cycle of resource extraction economy is played out in numerous rural towns scattered across the west.

BOREAL FOREST, NORTHWEST ALBERTA, CANADA: M11 my favorite wolverine. In a single day this cocky young male found his way into three separate traps. His overly dramatic tantrums before release were quite humors. He stood still just long enough to let me snap this one.
